Singer was born on November 26, 1986, in Santa Monica California. She is the sole daughter of Vincenzo Barba. Her family relocated into Point Pleasant New Jersey when she was six years old. Her secondary schooling within New Jersey at Red Bank Catholic High School. She continued her education in Catholic University where she earned a bachelor of architecture. At the age of four, she began to play the violin, earning her the name Violin Girl. Her name was often used to refer to her first name because of her appearances. She also taught children from within the community how to play the violin. She also sang Free throughout 1976 when she made the auditions for American Idol's sixth season when she was the age of 19.
